Today we’re throwing it back a few years to a gorgeous winter wedding. Plum is such a beautiful and timeless wedding color, especially for winter! Cynthia’s bridal bouquet was filled with classics like roses, ruffled lisianthus, and freesia. The bridesmaids’ dresses were offset with miniature green hydrangea, lisianthus, and purple tones of freesia.
The Peninsula Chicago is ranked as the city’s most luxurious hotel consistently and during the winter holidays that becomes even more true. The ballroom was transformed with purple uplighting and gobos. Table centerpieces included mini lanterns surrounded by bud vases, each filled with unique and textural blooms such as hyacinth, lisianthus, hypericum berries, and roses. Other tables featured a trio of vases each filled with lush bouquets of blooms such as stock, roses, spray roses, and hydrangea.
Isn’t that cake so fun and unique with the purple and brown plaid accents? The executive pastry chef at The Peninsula created it!
From the Bride
Both of our families live outside of Illinois so we wanted to make sure guests enjoyed themselves. We chose The Peninsula Chicago because of its stellar reputation of service. We timed the wedding date perfectly as the hotel was decorated the night before for Christmas. Our photographer, Heather Parker, knew exactly how to create the most memorable pictures using our decorations with those of the hotel. The ballroom has floor to ceiling windows overlooking Chicago. For the color theme, my favorite color always has been purple and I thought chocolate brown would complement that with the room. Not only did I wear purple shoes and earrings, but I had purple flowers in my bouquet. The most special part of my outfit was the row of heart shaped buttons that Zuzu’s Petals added to the handle of my bouquet. They were buttons from my great, great grandmother’s wedding dress that my mom had on her veil for her wedding day! Loads of DIY projects throughout the room, such as the place card poster that Dave created. He also took all of the pictures around Chicago that became the centerpieces for our table numbers. We painted our aisle runner and made our wedding invitations and menu cards. My mother hand-beaded my veil, and made my bracelet as well as bracelets for all of the girls in the wedding party AND she made her famous chocolate covered toffee to be added to the candy buffet that everyone enjoyed!
Thank you to Cynthia and David for having us “floralize” your beautiful day. It truly is an honor to have worked with such an amazing couple. Wishing you a million more years of happiness!
